k.u.k. Book 2024
2024 – it is the year of the European Capital of Culture for Bad Ischl and Salzkammergut. Regarding to this background, this year our "k.u.k. Book 2024" is a truly authentic and high-class culture book which is extraordinarily rich in content: eating & drinking culture, restaurant & bar culture, culture of gastronomy & hospitality, meeting & entertainment culture, live music & event culture, local & international culture. Right in the heart of the Salzkammergut and our imperial, banner city and capital of culture.
We present to all our Capital of Culture guests, all “normal” guests and of course our regular guests culture & events with free entrance, which are our creation, which have grown here and which are made here by us, by our friends and partners. Our k.u.k. Book is also orange, but not “bright orange”, the content is awesome and fairly freely financed, without any tax money.
This is only possible because of our sponsors and partners, especially because of the Trumer brewery from Obertrum and Wagner Beverages (see also k.u.k. Book page 11). Thank you, cheeers!
Sept / Oct 2023:
k.u.k. Osteria MIRAMARE
In the context of the European Capital of Culture 2024 we started our “Miramare” enjoyment project in spring 2023.
From friday september 22nd 2023, you can enjoy “Imperial flair by the sea and more” in our new k.u.k. Osteria MIRAMARE in the k.u.k. Hofbeisl & k.u.k. outdoor garden.
We have been inspired by the loving longing of our imperial ancestors to the sunny south as well as from the old oven in the k.u.k. Hofbeisl, have looked for a simple “formula” and found it in the italian gastronomic principle of an Osteria. With our new “Menù Miramare” and Take Away Service we present popular specialties from our southern neighboring country with high, certified quality from our certified “Maestro Alessandro”.
During the warming up of our new department including the new Miramare kitchen you can also use the new Take Away Service. We underline that the entire Miramare menu is available to take away!

In the year “on the way to becoming a cultural capital” we put with our tried and tested "k.u.k. Book” once again a varied and high-class one “Event program with music, enjoyment and joie de vivre” . "k.u.k. Culture is culture and more.” is the slogan of the season and means that with us Gastronomy, culinary delights and conviviality put a crown on culture worthy of the heart of the Salzkammergut. New k.u.k. Enjoyment project
We took advantage of the quiet weeks at the beginning of the year with a lot of creative work and are starting “on the way to the European Capital of Culture” with our new enjoyment project from Friday 17.3. into the k.u.k. summer season 2023!
Because it's time for beautiful dreams, warmth and love, we have – what else could we do – looked around in our monarchical mythology and let us get inspired from an imperial love.
At the Miramare Castle near Trieste, the stories around Franz Joseph's brother Maximilian and the later Summer residence of the Habsburgs we found what we were looking for!
We were also just sitting in the k.u.k. Hofbeisl directly in front of the historical wall with the old bakery oven, which formerly used to be exactly where today our “small Hofbeisl kitchen” is located, as exactly in the same moment “Maestro Alessandro” knocked on the door as a real and native Italian from the for its culinary richness well known Apulia region. He had found his true love in Bad Ischl, started a family and was looking for a job, having a very interesting culinary visionin his mind.
What a coincidence! Everything came together perfectly straight away!
Andiamo!!!Let's go “with imperial flair to the sea and more”and “let’s do something special with a southern bread…”, especially “at our bars and around them”, where life has changed so much because of Corona! The “Take Away Service” was just something like the i-dot on the Italian “i”…
Come and dream with us of the beautiful sunny south, from the “Litoral” until the Puglia region. Certainly we will still remain connected to our homeland, being soon European Capital of Culture. The entire k.u.k. Menuis also available in the winter outdoor garden - additionally our new “gondola menu” with exclusive specialties when reserving your table in the gastro cabins (see below)
First Austrian “outdoor cable car restaurant” with new, specially designed “k.u.k. gastro gondolas”
Developed in collaboration with the innovative cable car company Carvatech from Oberweis near Gmunden, taking into account all medical, social and legal circumstances
5 heated, illuminated and specially serviced panoramic gondolasfor dinner, lunch, party & more at the k.u.k. outdoor garden area
In terms of design “10-person cabins”, which can be used by a maximum of 10 people for our gastronomic approach
