Inspiration
“Inspired by an imperial love”
We have been inspired by the loving longing of our imperial ancestors and present popular specialties from our southern neighboring country in high, certified quality from the hand of an equally certified master (see “Maestro Alessandro”).
With the name “Miramare”we refer to the well-known castle near Trieste, which was built for Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, the brother of Emperor Franz Joseph I (1864-67 Emperor of Mexico) and his wife Charlotte. It reflects their great love for the sea and served after Maximilian's death from 1867 - 1914 as a summer residence of the Habsburgs.

“Mirar mare”Literally translated means “looking at the sea”. So let's look from the imperial Ischl to the Adriatic Sea and dream of Bella Italia. Let's feel the longing for sun and south, let's go there “with imperial flair to the sea and more” and remain connected to our homeland at the same time.
Our “Menù Miramare” is the culinary expression of our love for our southern neighboring country and contains selected specialties with the high quality standards of a certified, genuine Italian master. His cuisine follows a traditional, Mediterranean approach, is embedded in a European cultural mix and is always accompanied by a modern vision.
Keep it simple!
The principle of the k.u.k. Philosophy has always been simple and since it opened "live simply" is the well-known slogan of our Trumer beer brewery.
The simplest translation of hospitality or tavern in Italian language is Osteria. The simple formula for the new concept is therefore: k.u.k. Hofbeisl + Miramare + Osteria = k.u.k. Osteria Miramare.
The ambience in this sense shall appear “simple”, for Bad Ischl’s nightlife the occasional character remains as a party location with DJs or live music from around 21:00 depending on the situative mood.

In this context, a very special inspiration comes from the history of our Hofbeisl-building. At the very back of the k.u.k. Hofbeisl, in front of the passage to the k.u.k. Hofwirt, you can discover an unusual and original wall decoration. It's because the location of our Miramare kitchen formerly used to be the oven of Bad Ischl's bakeries Vogtenhuber and Nahmer.
Now we're working again with dough here. Maestro Alessandro is basically a “master baker” and loves working with dough in any way. Focaccia, pizza, pasta, all kinds of Italian bread one can imagine...
Let us remain open to the new, let us continue to be inspired and look forward to everything that is to come in our "holy halls". Rethinking old things – we’ve always liked that…
“Ciao at the k.u.k. Hofbeisl in Bad Ischl”
My name is Alessandro Musciagna and I was born 34 years ago in Barletta in the Puglia region in southeast Italy. I have been working with dough for 20 years and have done it professionally for ten years , collecting experiences all across Europe : From Italy to France, Ireland and Spain, before finally settling here in the beautiful Salzkammergut. I found my great love here and recently we started a “multicultural family”.
I am in love both with my new and my old home and based on all my previous experiences, with a view to the European Capital of Culture 2024, we developed a new culinary concept together with the k.u.k. Hofbeisl team. It's about a traditional Mediterranean cuisine, which is embedded in a European cultural mix and accompanied from a modern vision.
What we do as part of the k.u.k. Hofbeisl Culinary concept “Miramare” we do with passion and the necessary know-how. In this way we bring you products to the table that, on the one hand, are made through the use of “DOP” (“Denominazione di Origine Protetta”) & “IGP” (“Indicazione Geografica Protetta”)-products from protected and controlled origins and on the other hand through special processing techniques for bread and pizza dough of the highest quality .
The 48 hour fermentation of our dough ensures that the products not only have a unique taste, but also make your palate and stomach happy. It's a special coincidence that we do this exactly where the ovens of prestigious Bad Ischl bakeries used to be (see point “the old oven in the k.u.k. “Hofbeisl”).
At the end of November 2022 I was certified by the DOC Pizza Academy as “Master Instructor” and have thereby achieved another goal. It will enable me even better to bring every guest and every person closer to the love and passion that I put into my dough and the compositions served on it every day.
I look forward to many enjoyable moments together.
