We not only revive it, but we deepen it, the local pub and regulars' table culture. Because it is not only discussed, what moves the heart but it will also warm the heart, when Hans Kefer (vulgo “Johann K.”) and his friends put that really earthy, authentic songs from the Salzkammergut “on the table” with his accordion. All in a cozy way and of course unamplified!

A foray into the world of yesterday, exhibition in Ischl
We are happy to share the fascination and of Love of the Association honoring the deceased Ischl artists, which is why we visited his wonderful, current exhibition in the Trinkhalle yesterday. The interesting Stories and Background, which gives us Barbara Schenner and her club colleague Ulla We would like to share with you what we told you here.

Actually, it is again one of those popular Weekly market Fridays in our imperial city…
But this one is different and special, because there has never been a Friday like this before, where on the way to the city or home from the weekly market you can be greeted by several of us just here you go – and probably quite famous in the future – Chefs de Cuisine, or rather von students of the 2nd grade of the Bad Ischl Hotel Management School Your training will be carried out under the Focus on “culinary arts” and show us what you can do this Friday, in the middle of Schröpferplatz in our k.u.k. outdoor kitchen in front of the guests prove it!

The Bad Ischl Tourist Board organizes the “Roas” with this special brass music as part of this year’s Harvest Festival program.
The Begglmusi consists six musicians from Tyrol and Bavaria with two flugelhorns, bass trumpet, helicon, harp and Styrian harmonica. They bring original and lively Folk music from the Alpine region on stage or in pubs. They prefer to play without electricity, but with hats.
We are looking forward to an authentic Harvest Festival afternoon and evening, a little bit of Tyrol and Bavaria fits very well into our Hofwirt 😉

When one speaks of the “Bauernherbst” today, one likes to think of traditional events, regional cuisine, excursions and more. The flagship project of the Salzburgerland Tourism Association has become a well-known brand since its launch. 76 villages celebrate the big anniversary with around 2.000 festivals and events, Bad Ischl is known as only municipality in Upper Austria represented, the motto is “sung and played”.
The official opening ceremony of Bad Ischl with the new tourism director Frank Jost together with the representatives of the city municipality and farmers at the k.u.k. The umbrella will take place at 11 a.m. The Harvest Festival motto is even more important here, as the Pernecker Klarinettenmusi celebrates its 30th anniversary. It invites you to a morning pint from 10:30 am and ORF presenter Heinz Hörhager will lead through the afternoon program, which they have designed for the festive occasion, which will also include the Schuasterl Dreigesang and Goiserer Tanzlbläser Also expected: Live workshop by Instrument maker Mario Struger and Farmer's doughnuts from the Ischl farmers' wives.

With Montserrat Suarez and her amazing gypsy musicians on the opening day of the fish festival, from 18:868 onwards, there will be truly authentic sounds on the k.u.k. stage. With XNUMX flamenco tabs per minute, it is considered second fastest flamenco dancer in the world! Insiders have therefore given her the nickname “Terremoto” ("earthquake"). Why? It can't be described in words; you have to see it, feel it, experience it.

Fish Festival Friday is also Weekly Market Friday in Bad Ischl. Only on this day we extend the popular weekly market with a fine, very special Schröpferplatz market staand of the Ausseerland Fishery. here you can meet in a special way, here taste and here you can enjoy a good glass or two. Only here is a weekly market stand from 10:30 is musically accompanied. With none other than the Regina Mitterberger Trio. An integral part of the k.u.k. Fish Festival has always been Sabine Linke with her “Schürzenliebe” with her popular, hand-painted T-shirts and limited-edition dirndl collections, including salt ship and Franz and Sisi aprons. Because we had to postpone the event by a week this year due to bad weather, unfortunately, they will not be able to attend the new date with their pop-up tent shop. I - “never change a running system, a running team – and never change a running event format”! Our Bacardi Summer Festival is part of k.u.k. Hofbeisl like the double eagle or the imperial yellow. It is one of our “oldest” event formats… – and the Bacardi rum including all long drinks and cocktails mixed with it are part of our very international and high-class bar offering like ice cubes are part of cola.
This year we will be celebrating the first weekend in July Start of the summer school holidays in Upper Austria and are especially looking forward to a really great evening on Thursday evening, 3.7 July from 21 p.m. cool and hot Bacardi School's Out Party im k.u.k. Hofbeisl with DJ SMO and special Bacardi drinks, mixed by the k.u.k. Keepers.
On Friday there will be another very authentic Latin band on the k.u.k. Stage at Schröpferplatz, with Top Latin music from Cuba to Brazil: “Montevideo” is a musicians collective with members from Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay, etc. and come as a hot “Latin Dance Party Sextet” to us in Ischl. Bandleader Juan Carlos and the musicians from Montevideo are among the Crème de la crème of the Latin American music scene in Austria.

We have been dreaming about this for many years and have always considered various scenarios. It is said that no funk band sounds blacker and whiter than HPRC, founded in Upper Austria in 1987. For almost 40 years, these top musicians have captivated audiences. From around 20:30, the Schröpferplatz will be transformed into a “Hot & Groovy Party Area”with Soul, funk and pop at its finest. Let's dance and have a good time!
Before it gets really hot on our k.u.k. stage, Andi Unterberger with his band will be back at 18:00 with the presentation of his new follow-up album “My Ideas”, five years after his debut album “Gschichtn”. Eleven new songs – again a diverse stylistic mix – were recorded in his home studio and refined in New York. The album will be released digitally on all streaming platforms on June 13, 2025. The lyrics range from youthful escapades to touching topics – always personal, always heartfelt, and always with a wink.
During the day, our garden restaurant is open under the motto “Wild Cooking & Hot Bartending” to the culinary and gastronomic meeting point for city festival visitors. The additionally installed Schlumberger Bar invites with “The Legendary Thomas Gratky Himself” from the morning onwards to taste summery sparkling special drinks, k.u.k. Hofwirt & Osteria Miramare offer delicacies for almost every taste from midday onwards. k.u.k. Marketer & Music Master Richie Loidl provides DJ background sound and short boogie piano interludes for the right tone to the right course and leads as the “MC (Master of Ceremony)” through the program.

After careful meteorological consideration, the k.u.k. Notte Italiana 2025 will take place on Friday 30.5. from 18 p.m. despite residual risk and moderate temperatures – with even hotter music program and all possible additional roofing precautions! The culinary special offer will be extended to the probably quite sunny Saturday 31.5.!
We have traveled a lot, know many bands and musicians – and we always put great importance to authenticity and live music quality. Especially because of this experience, we would like to emphasize that we have never heard a comparable Italo cover sound like the Dolci Signori. It's unique and groovy!
Some songs sound better than the original because they combine their music with 100% Passionand with the highest level of professionalism. Join us in looking forward to this truly “southern”, Italian night. With this band, the special drinks, and our authentic Italian cuisine, the feeling will be perfect!

k.u.k. Chronicle highlights:
It was exactly the 1st of May 1985, when k.u.k. Hofbeisl zu Ischl opened in Ischl's Wirerstrasse 4 as an imperial creation of gastro-legend Erich Wimmer with the label “small café & bar”. Already in spring 1986 it was enlarged by the very popular k.u.k. Pub garden in the inner courtyard.
The Bad Ischler citizen Marcus Hofbauer was one of the most-seen guests from the very beginning. After careful consideration with the founding father Wimmer and some Trumer Pils he saw his calling in an innkeeper's life and took over in 1988 together with his partner Franz Reifetshamer. "k.u.k. Max" has since then become a well-known personality and brand. Under his leadership, “the k.u.k.” developed until today into an Institution in the heart of the Salzkammergut.
After a great relaunch in 1992 the k.u.k. Umbrellabar was established at Schröpferplatz in summer 1994. The expansion of the "Schanigarten" took place in 2000, k.u.k. Guest garden was founded in 2001 in cooperation with the Nahmer bakery and has since that moment grown gradually to its current size.
On 21.12.2012 the k.u.k. Hofwirt opened in the adjacent building. The profound challenges during the Corona years led to the invention of the Osteria Miramare in k.u.k. Hofbeisl, which in its final form provides since 2023 new guests and target groups with high-quality Italian cuisine.
In 2024 the k.u.k. Gastro GmbH was founded and very famliliar head of department Dieter “Dizzo” Hager took over the operational business as CEO in order to be Head of k.u.k. in 3rd generation in 2026.

The k.u.k. Cable Car Restaurant was an "invention" of the corona crisis, which we - as a joyful service provider - developed into a successful, sustainable virtue. Today it is still there. By popular request, we are re-establishing this "institution" at Schröpferplatz.
