k.u.k. spring festival with music and seasonal enjoyment of the highest joy of life
The season is still as fresh as the soft green of the meadows with the yellow flowers, the bright blue of the spring sky and the power of the sun that melts the last snow from the mountain peaks. It is the time of awakening. Time for that special lifestyle, come to life, swing and shake.
Until 2015, for 20 years it was the time of the legendary Shake the Lake Boogie Festival. We follow the tradition, present two sessions of the originals and new stars and provide some spontaneous surprises that only exist for this occasion.
An additional Swing in Spring menu presents spring specialties with asparagus and wild garlic from Wednesday to Saturday.

We are taking it into our own hands, together with you, the small remaining community of students in our capital of culture who, despite everything, believes in the future. We don't brake, we accelerate.
You know the capital of culture’s “Genusslabor” at Bad Ischl train station. It's about the inn... At the k.u.k. Hofbeisl we are your “bar and party laboratory”. Let’s come together and develop together. Let's get together and party, be inspired, create and develop, have fun and let the good times roll!
You are the focus this Thursday, we have an ear for all your wishes, we play your - or you make your own sounds - and we have special offers such as:
- “Thirsday Small Break” (long drink 2cl + 2cl Berliner Luft) for €8

Because we are the Capital of Culture, because there is a “Fête de la Musique°” in the entire Salzkammergut, where our city is closed to traffic - and because Friday June 21st is the legendary solstice night, we bring “Amore Italiano” right in the heart of our city and region. The 8 professional musicians and stars of the pop, musical and opera world present a musical firework of superlatives. They tour with their “Italian Night” through Austria and bring the feeling of life that we all love so much to the people with a unique show. A great, spectacular evening full of Italo hits awaits our guests.
In the afternoon the fully equipped k.u.k. Stage is available for bands of the “Fête de la Musique” , then it will be reset and taken over by “Amore Italiano”at around 23:XNUMX. This evening our city allows live music until XNUMX:XNUMX. Grazie! Che bella notte!

The oldest event format in the k.u.k. history, this year with „homemade Caribbean summer-vibes“ at the start of the vacations
Yes - the summer holidays begin in schools in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland this weekend and we are expecting our first high season guests. Even we are already celebrating the holiday spirit here, indeed. All you Rastafari let's come over - now it's getting really hot in our imperial city and capital of culture!
Last year it hit us like a Bacardi bomb, the concert of Fritz Stingl with his original Buccaneers. This needs a revival at the Schröpferplatz, because here the groove is even closer, even earthier, even more Caribbean than in the Kurpark! Look forward to the 2024 concert, which will revive the spirit of Bob Marley, Jamaica and Cuba right here in the middle of our homes.
Attention Latin fans: The Bad Ischl dancing school Dance & More invites to “public latin dancing” at Schröpferplatz and shows some cool moves, steps and techniques from salsa to samba and more during the break of the Buccaneers. Just come and dance along. ¡Bailemos!

Capital of culture or not… – let’s never change a winning thing!
The great love between Austria and Bavaria has existed since the time of the Emperor, since “Franz & Sisi”. Our tablecloths are blue and white again on this midsummer festive day and are the ideal base for our Maisel's wheat beer and the “hearty, honest white sausages without compromise” from our butcher Dorfmetzgerei Hauer from Lochen am See.
Like the Habsburgs, despite all our connection to the earth in the Salzkammergut, we think particularly globally in 2024. The Salty Dixie Ramblers from Salzburg once again give the down-to-earth nature of this event a corresponding “touch of the world” with tried-and-tested “hot music from New Orleans”.

The peak of the high season with the great k.u.k. Festival at Schröpferplatz
Above all, it is a celebration of shopping in our beautiful Bad Ischl city center. The shops are open until 19:XNUMX that day and the city is closed to all traffic. There are numerous attractions everywhere. Together with the tourist office, the Bad Ischl Originals are once again rolling out the red carpet for city strollers who want to feel “like an emperor”. After shopping, everybody meets up at Schröpferplatz “for the big party”.
After many years we have managed to bring Eddy Miller from Munich back to the festival with both familiar and new repertoire and a new line-up on the k.u.k. stage. Best international music for this highly festive occasion before His Majesty's Birthday (August 18th).

on Sat 24.8. at 11am
In the year of the European Capital of Culture, the Harvest Festival in the heart of the Salzkammergut will be organized in a special way. Bad Ischl is the only Upper Austrian municipality to take part in the Salzburg Harvest Festival again and offers an extensive program.
The official opening with the city's representatives of tourism, commerce and politics will take place at k.u.k. umbrella bar outdoor area and is accompanied by a tasty breakfast pint with the Ischler Tanzbläser (folkloric brass band) under the direction of Sepp Leithner.
The legendary Trumer Harvest Festival is our homage to the “Trumer autumn beer”. Of course there are also classic beers like the “Trumer Pils” and the “Obertrumer Original” as a Zwickel draft beer, suitable for the fall season or the “Trumer Freispiel”, which is a non-alcoholic beer specialty and is particularly popular when driving.

The weekend music program presents legends of Austropop, in the context of the European Capital of Culture with an international flair of rock & roll, R & B and world hits. None other than Mat Schuh will start the program with his 5-piece band on Friday August 23.8rd.

On Saturday 24.8. not only the Harvest Festival opening at 10:30 is a highlight (see above) but also the performance of the Bad Ischl musician and “songwriter of the hearts” Anna Coa. In addition to “fresh alpine austropop with heart and brain,” she also brings the multiple and successful song contest participant Gary Lux (also known for “Austria 3” and “Wir 4”) including band (Leyti Seck percussion and Kurt Preslmaier, who performs with stars like Uli Bäer) on the k.u.k. stage!

Our k.u.k. tribute
to fine wines
The “winely stroll” through our city’s outdoor dining gardens will continue in 2024 and of course we’ll be a part of it again. Our classic k.u.k. wine list will be supplemented by an additional range of wines of our supplier Weinhof Schenkenfelder. We will finalize the weekend wine list at short notice depending on the weather and general conditions.
Musically, we will organize the first day – as it shall be for a capital of culture – particularly “cosmopolitan”: none other than the multi-faceted Bruno Buchberger will play with his legendary Bookie Mountain Jazz Trio on Friday, August 30.8th. Otherwise he is well known as O. Univ. Prof. Dr. phil. Dr. hc mult., as the founder of the Hagenberg software park, professor of computer mathematics, author, consultant, etc. On our k.u.k. stage he's all about swing, bossa, dixie, oldies and evergreens. How well this fits together 😉
The second day is about our traditional roots: The Goiserer Klarinettenmusi accompanies the wine-life at Schröpferplatz with its earthy, authentic sounds.
We all know that life is far too short to drink bad wine… cheers!

The end of the season on the festive day which only exists in Bad Ischl
It started a long, long time ago when, due to the longer evenings, the lights had to be turned on while working and the boss invited his employees to a “Bratl”... This tradition of “getting professionally together” with good food and drinks continues today and therefore so many companies take their employees to the restaurants. Besides, all milestone birthdays of locals aged 50 and over are celebrated with a church service and a spectacular procession through the city.
At the k.u.k. Hofwirt chef Wolfgang Loidl's main focus is his legendary roast pork with Stöcklkraut. When the weather is nice, all areas of k.u.k. Hofwirt and Hofbeisl, including Osteria MIRAMARE and all outdoor dining areas are available all day long. Please reserve a table in time +43 664 152 86 84!
Music starting in the afternoon live on stage & walking: The Goiserer & Gosinger “Strudlsupp'm-Musi”. Why is this formation called like that? Because they play like a "strudel soup" - "quite real", "absolutely unamplified" and "thrown together as it suits", just the way "everyone likes it", always "with a lot of humor and a lot to laugh about."
